What to Expect at Your First Appointment
During your initial appointment, we review your presenting concerns, medical and psychological history, and current symptoms. The aim is to gather context, begin a collaborative assessment, and outline a clear plan for treatment and next steps. Initial visits commonly include brief assessment tasks and discussion about goals for therapy.
Expect to discuss your current medications, sleep patterns, daily routine, and any prior treatments. If applicable, we'll request pertinent records (e.g., sleep study results or prior psychological reports) to ensure safe and targeted care. Appointments typically last 45–60 minutes.
Fees, Insurance & Payment
Most extended health insurance plans cover psychologist services. We provide receipts for insurance claims and can discuss likely coverage and expected fees during your first contact. Payment is accepted by credit card or e-transfer; contact our office to confirm details and any sliding scale options.
Location & Telehealth
In-person appointments are available in Calgary; telehealth via secure, encrypted video is offered across Alberta. Telehealth is the default option for many clients and is a flexible way to access evidence-based therapy without travel. For telehealth, ensure you have a private, quiet space and a stable internet connection for the session.
